Dr. Constanze Coelsch-Foisner

Dr. Constanze Coelsch-Foisner is a researcher and strategy advisor at the forefront of deep tech innovation and the design of entrepreneurial ecosystems. Specializing in the systematic creation of ventures within high-uncertainty science and technology domains, she helps organizations—from venture studios to governments—structure the discovery, validation, and scaling of new companies. She has served as a strategic advisor to Fidelity, Oxford Science Enterprises, and emerging innovation hubs across Africa, helping them architect funding models and organizational frameworks for high-impact growth.

Currently a Postdoctoral Fellow at MIT working with Prof. Dame Fiona Murray, Constanze’s work explores the geopolitical dimensions of innovation and the translation of deep tech. Her research is backed by one of the world's most comprehensive empirical datasets on venture studios, comprising over 120 interviews across 70 organizations, and has been featured in the MIT Sloan Management Review and the Journal of Business Venturing. Constanze holds a PhD from ETH Zurich, yet she considers her most distinctive contribution to be the "translation" of rigorous research into real-world impact, ensuring that breakthroughs in the lab find their footing in the global marketplace.
